Sex Therapy & Tantra

What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy is counseling or other therapy to address a person’s sexual problems that can be psychological or physical.

 What is Tantra?

Tantra is a Sanskrit word that means ‘expansion through awareness’ andit is an ancient Eastern cultural tradition from India, China & Nepal, that uses meditation, breathing exercises, yoga and mantras to weave the spiritual and physical in order to heal. Unfortunately Tantra is often perceived explicit in the mainstream thinking and its healing properties are overlooked.

How can Tantra be Sex Therapy?

Tantra can help in healing past past negative events that are either hidden or known. Hidden past negative events are accumulated psychological past negative events that are imprinted in a person’s psychology and embedded in their behavior that they are generally unaware of. Known past negative events are evident and identifiable by the individual and can be physical unfortunate events, verbal unfortunate events, and sexual violence such as harassment, sexual unfortunate events, rape and discrimination.

The aim of Tantra is to increase the level of sexual desire and intimacy through pleasure. It is the cultivating of sexual energy in the body to connect to the Source or Divine.

There is a large population of women who cannot enjoy sex, and when this is a problem the woman either has a psychological or a physical (clinical) issue. The later can often be treated with talking therapy and medication but a psychological issue requires tender analysis and treatment to eliminate the root cause of the problem.

Unlike the physical issues that are like neon signs that scream out for remedy, psychological issues tend to be constant shadows that loom around. And more often than not women suppress their sexual problems either out of shame or not to come off as inappropriate in a society that has built its expectations around many demeaning perspectives.

Tantra can psychologically heal. It teaches people to embrace themselves and their sexuality by overcoming their sexual problems. Years of social conditioning and accumulated direct and indirect past negative events can be peeled away to bring one to a fresh state. When a woman embraces her sexuality and does not regard it as a taboo aspect in her life, she will be able to swim across all psychological barriers that stop her from enjoying pleasure. This in return, will build her self-confidence and self-esteem. She will take paths that challenged her before to build meaningful relationships that would nourish her soul.

Tantric Journey School of Awakening &  Healing employs the ancient art of Tantra to help women with sexual problems.

The method used at Tantric Journey is ‘body work’, as our cells in the body are memory store houses. Memories are either positive or negative. Bodywork is the technique of reprogramming the body’s cells and memory store houses.  Once the body’s cells are programmed to a positive state the woman is able to let go of both hidden and known past negative events.
