How Perfect is Your Vagina? They come in all shapes and sizes!

If you are doing some research into the benefit of yoni massage before taking the plunge and booking one, then you’ve probably read a thousand times over that “Yoni” is the Sanskrit word for the vagina, or else it means sacred place or even a sacred cave. You’ll no doubt have read that the term yoni doesn’t describe just the anatomy but also encompasses the energetic and spiritual dimensions of this sacred area of femininity.  But none of this helps to answer the question, ‘How can a yoni massage help me?’

Maybe you are looking to enhance your  sexuality or maybe you want to overcome difficulties with achieving orgasm or perhaps you are curious about whether yoni massage can help you overcome, depression and anxiety; whatever, your motivation for seeking a yoni massage you will discover that an authentic yoni massage carried out professionally for the purpose of healing will  have far reaching affects that will positively affect all areas of your life life.

Long held inhibitions in the West mean that female genitalia is still mainly in the closet, with many women being uncomfortable even referring to their yoni’s (vaginas) and feeling compelled to use a range of euphemisms such as ‘down below’,  ‘lady bits’ or even, ‘honey pot’, ‘private parts’ to describe their most sacred parts.  By contrast male genitals are talked about and most men know exactly what theirs look like, but many women have no idea what their yoni’s look like and are often riddled with shame and embarrassment in relation to their yoni.  Because of shame and guilt associated with the genitals and sexual zones of the body many women find they are trapped by deeply rooted barriers that prevent them from fully expressing themselves or embracing their sensual self, over a number of years this can cause a number of issues including those that relate to sexual dysfunction, inability to let go during sexual intercourse and sex-hang-ups.

Many women believe that their yoni’s are ugly, unnatural or unattractive and this is often caused by unrealistic expectations created by immature comments, negative sexual experiences as well as the media and porn industry. The reality is that Vaginas come in all sizes, shapes and shades.  There is no wrong or right shape or size they are all perfectly unique and beautiful as they are, but do most women, particularly young women, know that? It seems not as a trend towards body perfection and online pornography have caused many women to feel uncomfortable with their bodies and their yoni’s; which has led to the disturbing increase in more women seeking cosmetic surgery for their vaginas. Dr. Magdelana Simonis from the University of Melbourne published a report that disclosed a three fold increase in the number of women seeking labiaplasty (cosmetic surgery for vaginas).

Whilst many women don’t go looking for online porn, they are drowning in a society and culture where perfecting their bodies is seen as paramount. The unrealistic images of women and sex lives that women are exposed to on a daily basis mean that many women feel ashamed of their bodies and that they feel they don’t stack up to societies ideals of beauty which affects their confidence both in and out of the bedroom.  There is a core problem here – we don’t talk about yonis (vaginas) and women and men are not told how they are all different. The reality is that their is no ‘normal’ yoni.

Authentic Yoni Massage and Tantra practices can help women to overcome their barriers and reconnect to their innermost core and tap into their fountain of restorative, energising and healing sexual energy.

In modern culture the two most sacred areas of a woman’s body the breast and the yoni [vagina] are degraded to being merely sexual objects or for child birth/rearing.  They are rarely touched or considered outside of an physiological function, sexual or child-rearing context.  The yoni and breasts are largely sexualized in Western culture and women for generations have been made to feel shame in these areas as a result many women have a negative relationship with their yoni and their sexuality.

For over twenty years Mal Weeraratne has been working as a Tantric Practitioner in London. He specialises in emotional release and emotional detox through Tantric – Tao bodywork and offers yoni massages as part of his treatment plan.

The cultural shaming of women’s sexuality and needs mean that many women have come to feel bad about their bodies and have been conditioned to be disconnected from their breasts and yoni’s. The yoni has for most women become an object that serves the needs of others and has become an area that harbours great shame and hurt.

Many women have become so disassociated with their yoni that they never consider them, but all negative emotions are held there, and the yoni becomes an area of embarrassment and shame. Stress and negative emotions stored within the yoni leads to stagnation and pain, the body attempts to minimise discomfort and often turns the pain to numbness. The yoni and its power is reduced to an area of discomfort or numbness. Symptoms such as irritation, penetration discomfort, low libido, dryness, lack of orgasms, inability to feel and even chronic pain are all common when negative emotions are stored within the body. Mal Weeraratne has successfully  treated over 3,500 women to overcome sexual dysfunctions and his clients  give great testimonials about his work and the power of this unique healing modality known as Tantric Journey.

If you had back ache or muscular aches and pains you would probably seek a massage & bodywork as a practical and sensible solution. So, as the yoni is just a part of our body wouldn’t it make perfect sense that when massaged with unconditional love our yoni will release tension created as a result of past negative events and heal.

Yoni massage is about gifting yourself the power of receiving touch WITHOUT any expectations and about releasing negative emotions so that you are free to feel pleasure in the body again. It can be pleasurable, emotional, painful, upsetting and relaxing.

Western society obsessively sexualizes breasts and vaginas, but ignores the wonderful work they also do in bringing children into this world and feeding them, and overlooks  how no two people are the same so why would two yoni’s be identical?

Before considering the benefits of a Yoni Massage or booking an appointment you might want to begin by looking at your vulva. It’s not unusual for women well in the sixties to have never looked. Indeed many women feel that there is shame or stigma attached to getting intimately acquainted with their own anatomy, but it is important to check your genital areas just in the same way you check your breasts for changes. If you’re ready to take a look, choose a time when you won’t be disturbed, start out slow and use your (clean) fingers to explore. It doesn’t have to be touch for pleasure, the touching can be just exploratory, allowing you to get to know what it feels like and to allow you to become familiar with the landscape of your yoni.  Once you are comfortable, grab a hand mirror, take a look. Notice the colour, texture, shape and tone and make a point of noting the beauty of your yoni area, be sure to check back often, noting any changes in the skin or new bumps that may emerge.

Why Yoni Massage is important for Women

A Yoni massage is a conscious exploration of  the vulva, vagina and genital area. Women need to develop a new loving relationship with their yoni and learn to receive without giving. It is important that women can release past negative events and develop a  relationship with their body where the yoni is touched with unconditional  love and care, without any expectations of arousal or orgasm or of having to give. Indeed one of the hardest things for a woman is to learn receive pleasure and to surrender without fear.

Mal Weeraratne specializes in emotional release through Tantric Tao bodywork and this includes yoni massage. Tantric Journey therapists cite the Bodywork performed during a session as being extremely effective in addressing a range of symptoms and illnesses including:

Stress and tension

Depression

Unexplained fears, phobias, panic attacks

Addictions

Insomnia

Low body confidence

Menstrual problems

Menopausal problems

Fertility issues

Loss of interest in sex

Difficulty in experiencing or achieving orgasm

Pain during Intercourse

Vaginismus (involuntary vaginal contractions/closing of the vagina before sex)

Fear of sex, intimacy or love

Difficulty to find a suitable partner or maintain a long-term relationship

Inability to experience Amrita (female ejaculation) and fully let go

The yoni massage can really help a woman to let go of long held inhibitions and the shame and guilt associated with her  body by releasing stagnant negative emotions and deep-seated barriers that prevent individuals from fully expressing themselves and feeling bliss and positivity.

Yoni massage is not simply a hands-on technique that requires physical manipulation, but instead involves  intention, the conscious direction of energy throughout the body through deep breathing and visualization. In yoni massage, we don’t go in with the explicit objective of pleasure (although many women may feel pleasure). Instead, a yoni massage offers an opportunity to explore what is present in the moment and devote time to self care and personal development. Yoni massage is a powerful crucible for self-healing, where you can release memories and energies that are held in the pelvic basin and yoni.

It provides women the ability to cleanse and energetically stimulate the chakras as well as achieve emotional healing by releasing the pain due to past negative events, that often becomes seated in the yoni. Once a woman is able to be in touch with her yoni energy and release stagnant emotions, her connection to the entire web of life is restored to its rightful blissful state.
