Tantra – Have your Cake & Eat it!
Want to be Spiritual, but have worldly desires? Maybe it’s time you embrace Tantra!
You may be at a stage in your life where you feel you must embrace change and deeply feel that you need to follow a more spiritual path. If you are feeling compelled to find a spiritual path and grow spiritually then you’re not alone as this craving is a deep, human instinct that makes the pursuit of spirituality, by any path a natural hard wired response.
But what if in conjunction with your craving for spirituality is also a desire for worldly pleasures? If you are not feeling the need to give up all your worldly desires and devote yourself to a life of selfless dedication in pursuit of spirituality then you might want to consider Tantra.
Tantra is different from other spiritual traditions because it takes the whole person, and their worldly desires into account. Other spiritual traditions tend to teach that desire for material pleasures and spiritual aspirations are mutually exclusive and this can cause you to be at odds with yourself as the stage is set for an internal struggle between worldly desires and the quest for a higher spiritual path.
Although it is a natural instinct to be drawn into spiritual practices it is also natural to have an urge to fulfill worldly desires. In many spiritual practices these two desires are at odds with each other and can lead to feelings of guilt and self-condemnation that is not healthy or beneficial. Tantra offers an alternative path.
Tantra itself means “to weave, to expand, and to unite”, and according to tantric masters, the fabric of life can provide true and ever-lasting fulfillment only when all the threads are woven according to the pattern designated by nature, in other words Tantra is all encompassing. Tantra does not look to exclude worldly desires but to knit or weave together the whole of life, both spiritual and worldly.
When we are born, life naturally forms itself around that pattern, life is blissful, limitless and all encompassing. But as we mature, our ignorance, desire, false beliefs, attachment, negative emotions, negative beliefs of others and ourselves tangle, matting and tearing the threads of the fabric of our lives. Tantric practices repair the fabric, and restore the original pattern, allowing us to cast of negativity and false beliefs and begin enjoying the blissfulness of life.
The Tantric Path
The Tantric path is systematic and comprehensive. The profound science and practices pertaining to yogic, meditative, body therapy and Tao wisdom combined with hundreds of esoteric practices for generating worldly and spiritual prosperity which all blend perfectly in the tantric disciplines.
Tantra is often misunderstood because of its embracement of worldly desires and also of sexual energy. Whilst many spiritual paths exclude sexual energy, Tantra openly embraces sexual energy and turns sexual energy into spiritual and creative energy.
Whilst Tantra is an ancient practice in many respects, it’s knowledge and practice has never been more on trend for it is one of the few spiritual paths that can fit into a modern life and lifestyle without causing internal conflict.
