Frequently Asked Questions
A Tantric retreat in Spain offers an opportunity to step away from everyday responsibilities and explore Tantra, body awareness and personal development in a structured residential setting. Tantric Journey’s programme takes place over seven days in southern Spain and combines teaching, demonstrations, individual reflection and guided group practices.
The programme may include meditation, breathwork, movement, Trance Dance, mantras, connection rituals and clothes-on Tantric-Tao bodywork. Participants also learn about emotional awareness, consent, boundaries and the ways stress or past experiences may influence how they relate to their bodies and other people.
Unlike shorter workshops, residential retreats provide more time to practise techniques, ask questions and reflect on what you experience. However, everyone responds differently. The retreat does not promise a particular emotional, physical or spiritual result.
The intention is to provide a respectful environment in which you can explore the practices at your own pace while remaining aware of your personal needs and boundaries.
Yes. No previous experience of Tantra, meditation or bodywork is required, although all participants must be at least 21 years old. The exercises are introduced gradually, with explanations and demonstrations provided before the practical work begins.
You can attend the Tantric retreat in Spain alone. Many people join retreats without a partner because they are interested in self-development, emotional awareness, bodywork or meeting others within a structured group environment. Partner and group exercises may form part of the programme, but you can communicate your boundaries and decide whether a particular exercise feels appropriate.
Couples are also welcome. Attending together may create space to explore communication, trust, presence and connection away from the pressures of daily life. Some exercises may be completed together, while others may involve working individually or with members of the wider group.
The retreat is also open to practitioners, therapists, coaches and bodyworkers who wish to explore the techniques for their own development or as part of further professional training.
The retreat combines theoretical learning with practical and experiential exercises. The published programme includes guided meditation, breathwork, Trance Dance, Bija mantras, Osho Kundalini Meditation, laughter meditation, passive movement and rituals focused on connection, forgiveness and self-awareness.
A significant part of the course involves clothes-on Emotional Detox and Tantric-Tao bodywork. Participants are introduced to a structured bodywork sequence through teaching, demonstrations and supervised practice. The programme also refers to Taoist approaches such as Chi Nei Tsang and practices intended to support awareness of the body, emotions and energy.
Later in the week, participants may practise giving and receiving sessions and completing initial case studies. There is also time for sharing, reviewing what has been learned, discussing consent and boundaries, and asking questions about further practice.
As with other intensive Tantric retreats, the schedule may involve long days. Participants should arrive prepared for a combination of active movement, quiet reflection, group interaction and practical learning.
The bodywork described for this retreat is carried out with clothing on. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are recommended so that you can sit, move, breathe and receive bodywork without feeling restricted.
Consent should be clear, informed and ongoing throughout the retreat. Before taking part in a partner or bodywork exercise, you should understand what it involves, which areas of the body may be included and what your options are. You can ask questions, request an adjustment, decline an exercise, take a break or change your mind after an activity has begun.
Agreeing to one exercise does not mean that you have agreed to every subsequent activity. You should communicate any injuries, health considerations, sensitive areas or types of touch that you do not want before the practical work begins.
Participants are also expected to respect the boundaries and privacy of others. Personal experiences shared during the retreat should remain confidential, helping to create a more respectful and supportive group environment.
The Tantric retreat in Spain takes place near Freila in the Altiplano de Granada, in southern Spain. The venue includes a distinctive cave temple space within a small village setting, providing a quiet environment away from busy urban areas.
The residential format allows participants to remain close to the training space throughout the retreat. Accommodation and full-board meals are arranged separately from the course tuition and can be booked through the retreat centre after your place has been confirmed.
Different accommodation options may be available, including shared dormitories, shared or private double rooms and private apartments. Availability is limited, so early booking may provide a wider choice of rooms.
Three vegetarian meals are included each day with the accommodation package, and special dietary requirements may be accommodated when arranged in advance. Before booking travel, confirm the exact address, arrival instructions, check-in time, departure time and recommended transport arrangements with the organiser.
Bring loose, comfortable clothing suitable for movement, meditation and bodywork. Several light layers can be helpful because the temperature may vary between active sessions, quiet practices and evening activities.
You may also wish to bring a reusable water bottle, notebook, pen, personal toiletries and any medication you regularly require. As this is a residential retreat, pack suitable clothing and footwear for the local weather and for spending time outdoors around the venue.
Avoid bringing strong perfumes or heavily scented products, as other participants may have sensitivities. If you have allergies, dietary requirements, mobility needs or a health condition that could affect your participation, inform the organiser before travelling.
Preparation is not only practical. Read the programme, booking terms and participation guidance carefully so that you understand the nature and intensity of the retreat. Consider what boundaries or personal needs you may need to communicate. Arriving with realistic expectations can help you engage with the experience more comfortably and responsibly.
The retreat includes practices described as Emotional Detox, trauma release and Tantric-Tao bodywork. However, participation should not be treated as a substitute for medical care, psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment or professional crisis support.
Some people may find bodywork, breathwork or emotionally focused group practices intense. Speak to an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before booking if you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, managing a serious health condition, taking medication or experiencing significant psychological distress.
Participants receive a certificate of attendance as part of the retreat package. Those who want to pursue the practitioner pathway may be required to complete further case studies and receive additional sessions before qualifying for the Emotional Detox through Tantric-Tao Bodywork certificate. The exact requirements should be confirmed with Tantric Journey before enrolment.
The certificate should not be presented as a medical, psychological or physiotherapy qualification. Anyone intending to offer these practices professionally should also check the relevant legal, insurance and professional requirements in the country where they plan to work.
